I was then married for 15 years to Peter who had his own insurance
business, myself being then a Practice nurse and we had three lovely
children Zoe then 12 Jessica 10 and Thomas (Tom) 7 years. We had two
cars nice house etc.
Then Tom from a 2 week so called 'bug' had a brain tumour diagnosed.
We were told he had a 1% chance of survival. There are many things to
tell about that time really required a book to be written. Tom lived
18 months the longest anyone had lived with this aggressive tumour.
This 18 months was like 80 years.
Tom loved the Lord and committed his life. We and many people around
the world prayed for Tom's healing. These 18 months was the start, we
attended a village church for 17 years only one service approx. 3/4hr
service, teaching was five minutes, which we did not understand and
support in a real sense was not available. However this caused us to
react by finding the truth.
In this time Peter's 45 years old brother had a cancer recovered and
died of a heart attack 2 months before Tom. Peter lost his business
his mother had a heart by pass and then collapsed and died 5 weeks later.
Many more difficulties of quite a major kind have happened but 6 years
later the refining & moulding has been such that we would never
want to be as we were, which we felt was okay and under protection etc.
We reached a point where we have lost everything materially & career
wise.
I had a car accident Jan this year and I am still off work but I almost
heard God say audibly BE STILL & KNOW THAT I AM GOD. 1/2hr before
the accident I had stopped my car (I am a district nurse) and prayed
for God to give me direction his words then was I am going to change
things for the rest of your life. Not knowing 1/2hr later I was going
to have a car crash. This year certainly has brought that.
Things in Peter's life were revealed which he had suppressed. This almost
caused divorce but because of me being off work I was (God's guidance)
available to work this out and be obedient to what the word says in
marriage. Consequently Peter is free in Christ our marriage is transformed.
We both wanted to go to Bible College but could not financially and
more importantly had our daughters to support and be with. THEN we went
to a meeting and sat next to someone (happened to be Derek from Peterborough)
he handed out a flyer about this FLAME MINISTRY.
We being Church of England attenders (in our ignorance) thought perhaps
it weren't for us. However we are open to where the Lord leads us. We
attended the meeting in fact took along someone from our church (someone
new in Christ).
These 15 weeks have taught us so much, given us new friends brought
us to a new understanding of Roman Catholic doctrine. It was the answer
to our prayer for bible school. It has been exciting to see these young
men (including you Ed) so enthusiastic for the Lord with sensitive personalities.
We have been a real mixed bag that have certainly enjoyed each other's
fellowship in Jesus Christ.
We thank you all very much, we know we were meant to be there and realise
this came just at the right moment in our refining process (and so may
it go on). We know our God is totally dependable and knows what is best
for us even though at the time it seems very unfair. To relax in Lord
Jesus' arms in both hard times and good times.
Each one of us have come to the FLAME MINISTRY meetings through our
Lord Jesus' plan for us and to think we will all now go out and multiply
in the direction God leads us to. WHAT A GROWTH!
Thank you for your ministry, friendship and fellowship.
