GIVEN A 2ND CHANCE

TJ Warren
I have been a Christian since I was a junior in high school. I was saved at a young life conference in my high school auditorium. I always tried to live the life a Christian should live, but after going away to college, my personal relationship with Jesus Christ had wavered and been put on the back burner. I married and had 2 daughters, whom have been brought up in the church, baptised and saved. My husband, too. I have a good life, but 3 years ago I came down with viral encephalitis and was in a coma for 3 days, and seizured for 17 hours. straight. When I came to, I realized how close to death I had been and how the Lord had truly blessed me. I have never had another seizure and I do not have any medications that I have to take. I have no brain damage, but what I do have is a new, personal relationship with king Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. I believe the Lord spared me from this life threatening illness to be a witness for him and to tell others what he has done in my life.

I am forever thankful to God for sparing my life in Viet Nam and giving me a second chance. The only thing that really saddens me is all those who DIDN'T get that second chance. I guess that is why I spend so much of my time trying to help my fellow veterans. I went to church as a boy, but I didn't know the meaning of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until after I was wounded in Viet Nam. Wondering why I was spared put me on a spiritual journey that resulted in finding and accepting Christ as my personal Saviour. Being the leader of a Point Man group gives me the opportunity to help those who are hurting and I can surely understand where they're coming from. I am still 100% disabled due to my injury in Vietnam and am unable to work because of a severe memory impairment due to a traumatic head injury, but I don't have to sit back and play the part of a victim. I will do what I can to assist those who need and want help and I will do it till the day I die!
